Steps to Download Alexa App for Echo Connect Wifi

Alexa is a digital personal assistant from Amazon that works on voice commands. This artificial intelligence driven assistant can check the weather for you, play media, control temperature and security at home, schedule your day and lot more. To experience Alexa’s voice and performance, it is necessary to have a device that supports Alexa’s software. Amazon has a many Alexa compatible devices like the Echo smart speaker, Echo Dot, Echo Plus and Fire HD tablets. Just say the word “Alexa” once the device is switched on and you are ready to interact with Alexa.

Apart from an Alexa supported device, one needs an uninterrupted internet connection and Alexa app to complete the setup. One has to download Alexa app to connect WiFi with a chosen device. The app is available on Google Play Store for Android devices and is compatible with Android 5.0 or higher. For iOS devices, Alexa app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and is compatible with iOS 9.0 or higher only. This app can be installed on desktops from the Amazon App Store.

The most commonly used devices for Alexa are the Echo smart speakers from Amazon. With 360 degree omni-directional sound and noise cancellation, these speakers are crisp and loud. To connect Echo device with WiFi, the speaker needs to be plugged into a power source. Echo speakers can only be connected to dual-band Wi-Fi and not peer-to-peer networks. Once the latest version of Alexa app is downloaded, it will guide the user with step-by-step instruction on the screen, to complete setup of Echo.

Under the settings tab on Alexa app, available devices show up. Once Echo is selected, the app prompts to wait for a moving orange light to appear on the ring on the device head. If it does not appear, press the ‘Action’ button on the device. The app will let you connect the device with a custom Amazon wireless network. Once that connection is successful, the app will show available WiFi connection. Choose your preferred network and the setup will be complete. The settings section also allows the user to update WiFi when switching to new connections.

Once Alexa app and Echo are connected with WiFi, Alexa is ready to take commands. Other smart home devices like dimmers, temperature controls and smart switches can also be remotely controlled through Alexa. Alexa is continuously learning and the more one interacts with it, the more it adapts to user’s voice and vocabulary, thus, slowly becoming a part of everyday life.
